Top Educators to Attend Outstanding Conference - Texas Style

Date Uploaded: February 9th, 2018

While most teachers and students will be having a well earned half term break, music educators from Archbishop Beck Catholic College, in Walton, Liverpool will be in San Antonio, Texas, USA to attend the Texas Music Educators Conference.

TMEA hosts the USA's largest music educators convention at the Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center in down-town San Antonio. In most recent years, the convention has drawn over 26,000 attendees. Through this annual convention, TMEA offers its members professional growth, inspiration, and motivation to help them deliver the best music education experience possible for the students of Texas.

The annual convention features over 300+ workshops for Band, Orchestra, Vocal, Elementary and College educators and more than 100+ performances (from elementary through college and professional groups), including performances by TMEA Honour Orchestras and Honour Bands, middle school and high school ensembles selected through a multi-tiered audition process. The convention also showcases over 1,100 exhibit booths representing all facets of the music education industry. Over 26,000 people from Texas and beyond attend the clinics, concerts, research sessions and presentations by internationally recognized educators.

The convention culminates on Saturday with the TMEA All-State Concerts.

Speaking prior to departure this week, Bruce Hicks, Emeritus Director of Music said “ having been before to this premier event I can not wait to be part of this truly outstanding learning experience once again.”

Mr Hicks will be taking along Junior Band Director Mr Chris Tratt who will be attending the convention for the first time.
